At Ocean Boy, every pre-owned reel is carefully inspected, tested, and serviced (where required) before being offered for sale. We take pride in providing quality second-hand fishing reels and stand behind every reel we sell.

30-Day Mechanical Warranty

All eligible pre-owned reels purchased from Ocean Boy include a 30-Day Mechanical Warranty, commencing from the date the customer receives the reel.

This warranty is designed to provide peace of mind by covering unexpected mechanical faults under normal recreational fishing use.

What Is Covered

The warranty covers mechanical failures resulting from defects that were not present or detectable during our pre-sale inspection, including:

• Internal gear failure
• Bearing failure affecting normal operation
• Anti-reverse malfunction
• Drag system malfunction
• Rotor or oscillation mechanism faults
• Other internal mechanical issues that affect the reel's intended performance

What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover:

• Accidental damage, impact, or dropping the reel
• Saltwater corrosion or rust caused by improper maintenance
• Water intrusion or submersion
• Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, or improper handling
• Damage resulting from modifications or unauthorised repairs
• Normal cosmetic wear, scratches, paint chips, or signs of use
• Damage caused by incorrect line installation or overloading
• Consumable parts subject to normal wear, including drag washers, line rollers, handles, knobs, or bearings worn through regular use

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your reel has developed a mechanical fault during the warranty period:

1. Contact Ocean Boy within the 30-day warranty period.
2. Provide your order number along with photos or videos showing the issue.
3. Return the reel for inspection.
4. Once the fault has been assessed and confirmed to be covered under this warranty, we will repair the reel at no labour cost.

If inspection determines the issue is not covered under warranty, we will contact you before any paid repairs are carried out.

Repair Turnaround Time

Some specialist repairs are completed by our experienced reel technician.

Typical repair turnaround is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on parts availability and repair workload.

We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated throughout the repair process.

Shipping

The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping the reel to Ocean Boy for warranty assessment.

If the warranty claim is approved, Ocean Boy will cover the cost of return shipping within Australia.

Warranty Conditions

To remain eligible for warranty coverage:

• The reel must not be opened, modified, or serviced by any third party.
• The reel must be used for its intended purpose under normal fishing conditions.
• Proof of purchase from Ocean Boy is required.
• Warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
